Answer

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

With that wording, it is not a hadith. It is not mentioned in any recognized hadith collection. Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (Allah have mercy on him) said that he didn't know it to be a hadith--which, when coming from a hadith master such as him, indicates that it doesn't have a basis. Imam Pattani (Allah have mercy on him) stated in that it is fabricated. [Pattani, Tadhkirat al-Mawdu`at, 1.614]

There are other hadiths on the light of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that suffice us from this hadith. Moreso, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) being light is a reality affirmed by Allah Most High in the Qur'an itself. Allah tells us,

"There has come to you from Allah a light and a manifest book." [Qur'an, 5.15]

The greatest commentators of the Qur'an have stated that this "light" referred to in the verse is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). [Tabari, Tafsir, 4.501; Qurtubi, Ahkam al-Qur'an, 6.115; Tafsir al-Jalalayn; and others]

And Allah alone gives success. Faraz Rabbani
