Question

Would it have been wrong for Allah not to have sent us Prophets?

Answer

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

The principle is: Allah can do or leave anything possible; there is nothing that is necessary for Him to do. [Hashimi, Miftah al-Janna; Laqani, Jawharat al-Tawhid]

It is not necessary for Allah to do ANYTHING. He did not have to create the universe; not humans (a fortiori); nor, having created humans, send them guidance...

However, Allah willed that humanity be sent prophets to guide them to the ways of seeking the good pleasure of Allah and ultimate salvation. This is one of the greatest of gifts we have; thankfulness entails making the most of one’s blessings.

Faraz Rabbani.
