Question

A Muslim was asked "Are you a Muslim?" and they replied "No" - meaning thereby that they are not a good Muslim - does this constitute disbelief ? Would such a person's marriage be annulled?

Answer

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

No, this does not constitute disbelief, given the intention behind it. However, in general, a believer sticks to clarity in speech and conduct, and sees and says things as they are.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
