Question

If a woman bleeds past 60 days, does she bath at the time the baby was born, or pick up from the following prayer? i.e.: born at 3am after praying isha - bathe at 3am after day 60, and pray isha? or: wait till fajr and bathe?

Answer

Assalam Alaykum,

If one’s baby is born at 3 am, then one’s post-natal bleeding (nifas) ends 60 days later at 3 am. One must ensure that one prays whichever prayer is in at that time. If it is `isha time at 3 am, then one should bathe and pray `isha anytime before fajr comes in. If fajr is already in at that time, one should bathe and pray fajr before sunrise.

And Allah knows best.

Shazia
