Question

Did ibn Arabi believe in pantheism? is pantheism outside of the shariah?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, with blessings and peace on the Messenger of Allah

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Pantheism is defined as being the view that, "God is everything and everything is God ... the world is either identical with God or in some way a self-expression of his nature." [Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy]

Ibn Arabi certainly did not believe this. We aren't qualified to expound Ibn Arabi's beliefs. The Related QA may be of benefit. The related entries in Shaykh Nuh Keller's Reliance of the Traveller also deal with aspects of your question.

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
