The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used olive oil most of the times. Al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah report from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, "Eat olive oil (zayt) and anoint yourselves with it, for it is from a blessed tree. "
