Question

I have noticed differences in pronounciation of the same arabic letters. For example, people in the Indian subcontinent say "sa" and "zaal" whilst Arabs say "tha" and "dhaal". What do you think about this?

Answer

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

One should strive to pronounce the letters of the Qur'an and to recite it in accordance with the rules of proper recitation (tajweed). After this, regional variances in tone are accepted and acceptable.

And Allah alone gives success. Faraz Rabbani
