Question
In one of my Tafseer-ul-Quraan classes, the instructor said that the wisdom behind creating the universe in six days, even though Allah (swt) is able to do all that in an instant, was that He wanted us humans to learn the importance of structuring and planning our lives wisely, sketch each task and do it in stages instead of working haphazzardly. Is this true? Then what about the notion among certain Muslims that a true believer should just rely on Allah (swt) and take whatever good may come?Answer
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.
Your teacher's point is true, and mentioned by great scholars. The sunna of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is to act with planning, and to have clear, long-term goals one is seeking to fulfill, and then to take the best means to fulfill.
And Allah alone gives success.
