Does committing adultery invalidate one's marriage?

(The Prophet (PBUH) said to the nearest meaning, that ones faith leaves one while one steals or commits adultery. And it is not permissible for a non-Muslim to marry a Muslim lady.)

Wa alaikum salaam,

Committing adultery is a very grave sin and from the most destructive of enormities in Islam. However, by scholarly consensus, in and of itself it does not entail disbelief, nor does it render the marriage invalid.

The hadiths in this regard are understood to mean:

1) Such a person has committed an act characteristic of disbelievers, inconceivable for a Muslim to commit.

2) If he continues to commit such an act, there is fear it will lead him to actual disbelief.

3) It refers to an individual who commits adultery believing it to be lawful which will cause the person to leave the fold of Islam.

And Allah alone gives success.
