Do we have free will, if our fate is already written

Question

I was having a debate with my cousins about free will in Islam. In Islam we believe that when we are born our fate has been written for us, Allah. If this is true, then where is our free will? For example, we found out that a young man had committed suicide. In Islam this is seen as a big sin, and for this the man will go to hell. But if this was already written for him, then where was his free will. Did Allah already choose for him to go to hell? How do we draw the line between Free will and our fate? Because in the end everything is in Allahs will. So if a human is already predestined to go to hell for a bad deed which was already written for him to commit then one way or another he will commit that sin no matter what he does? Can you clear this up for me, I apologise if I have said anything wrong, I would really appreciate your answer.
