Question
Assalamualaikum. I am asking these question purely in regards to the Hanafi Fiqh. 1) If me or my wife are in a state of janabat due to sexual activity, do the clothes we wear whilst in that state also become napak? For example, if we are wearing pyjamas as we go to sleep after sexual intercourse, do those clothes also become napak? 2) If we do not have intercourse but my wife makes me orgasm/ejaculate and my semen goes onto her, say her hand or somewhere on her body, does she also become napak and need a shower? I know I will need a shower but will she need one as well because I have ejaculated on her? Jazak-Allah.
Answer
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.
[1] No, if one requires ghusl (ritual bath), then one's clothes aren't considered ritually impure. At most, if there is any filth (najasa)--such as sexual fluids-- on one's body, then that would need to be washed away.
[2] If you ejaculate, this makes ghusl obligatory upon you, not your spouse (if there wasn't any intercourse nor did they ejaculate).
