Question
I friend of mine is a Muslim girl and she likes a white guy who is more Christian. She is not very religious and neither is he but she does want to do the right thing Islamically. He is very understanding about the situation. They are considering marriage and if necessary he would convert.Answer
Walaikum assalam,
It is invalid, by scholarly consensus, for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man, because of the explicit Qur'anic texts regarding this.
If the man genuinely converts, and will remain a believer in Allah, His Messenger, and the essentials of Islam, throughout the marriage, then it will be valid and proper to marry him. Otherwise, it would be a great sin.
Allah Most High said:
"... And give not your daughters in marriage to idolators till they believe, for lo! a believing slave is better than an idolator even though he please you. These invite unto the Fire, and Allah inviteth unto the Garden, and unto forgiveness by His grace, and expounds His revelations to mankind that haply they may remember." [Qur'an, 2.221]

And Allah alone gives success.
