Question: Is it allowed from Islam to send our children to "non-Muslim"  schools?  With respect to Grant maintained "Muslim" schools they are forced to teach our children the National Curriculum which includes teaching Kufr thoughts such as evolution, concept of infinity and many that I have come across even teach music, drama and the like.

Walaikum assalam,

It is not in itself haram to send children to non-Muslim schools; rather, it is obligatory to ensure that one's children grow up performing that which is obligatory and avoiding that which is forbidden, in actions, thoughts, and beliefs. The means to ensuring both these matters are obligatory.

The means one takes towards this depend on one's circumstances, but must necessarily include proper parenting, good company, and solid, inspiring religious instruction.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
