Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
It is not a condition for a marriage remaining religiously or legally valid that the couple engage in sexual relations. Thus, the marriage would remain sound in the abovementioned case.
However, it is a religious responsibility and obligation for each spouse to fulfill the sexual needs of the other, [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar] as explained in answers on www.SunniPath.com.
